Women Supporting Women: Reflections on an Honest Conversation About Hormones, Pelvic & Sexual Health
A therapist reflects on the real conversations that unfolded at a recent women’s health event—covering hormones, intimacy, pelvic pain, and mental wellness. Includes a free resource guide.
Last month, I had the opportunity to co-host Women Supporting Women: A Conversation on Hormones, Pelvic & Sexual Health—an event that felt both professional and personal for me. As a therapist, I support women navigating the emotional and physical shifts that come with midlife. But I’m also living through many of these changes myself. Perimenopause, changes in energy, navigating intimacy, and identity. It’s my reality, too. And like many women I work with, I’ve wondered: Why didn’t I know this sooner? Why isn’t this talked about more openly? That’s what led me to help create this space: a room where we could name what’s happening in our bodies and minds, ask questions without shame, and connect in ways that felt honest and supportive.
Creating a Space That Felt Different
From the moment guests arrived, there was a quiet sense of ease. No one needed to justify their presence or have all the answers. The atmosphere felt warm, grounded, and genuinely open. We heard from panelists specializing in urology and gynecology care, pelvic floor therapy, sexual wellness, and women’s mental health. Each shared practical insights around topics like hormone health, libido, pain during sex, and emotional regulation. But equally powerful were the conversations between attendees—honest, layered, and full of mutual understanding.
Key Topics: Hormonal Changes, Pelvic Health & Mental Wellness
The questions and stories shared throughout the evening reflected what so many women are living through right now:
Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause—and how they impact mood, energy, sleep, and cognitive clarity (yes, brain fog is real).
Pelvic health concerns, including pain during sex, bladder changes, and the role of pelvic floor therapy in improving comfort and function.
Mental health support for women, including anxiety, mood swings, irritability, and the emotional impact of caregiving, career transitions, and shifting roles.
There was also an important conversation about medical self-advocacy—how to ask the right questions, push past dismissal, and trust what your body is telling you.

Continuing the Conversation
While I’m not currently planning another event, I’m open to future collaborations with providers or organizations who share this vision of supporting women through real, unfiltered conversations about health, hormones, and identity.
This stage of life is full of questions, recalibrations, and unexpected truths. I’m in it, too. And while it’s not always easy, I’ve found strength that comes from acknowledging what’s shifting and choosing to face it with curiosity, not fear. If you’re navigating this season and need support, or simply want to feel more connected to yourself again, know that you’re not alone. And you don’t have to figure it all out in silence. We don’t have to keep navigating these changes alone, and we shouldn’t have to. With the right information, support, and space for open dialogue, we can do better for ourselves and each other.
