Frequently Asked Questions

  • Therapy is a transformative journey that provides a confidential, judgment-free space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges. Unlike conversations with friends or family, professional counseling offers evidence-based strategies to help you move forward. Whether you're navigating life transitions, anxiety, relationship struggles, or self-discovery, therapy can provide clarity, healing, and growth.

If you're unsure whether therapy is the right step, I offer a free 20-minute consultation to discuss your concerns and answer any questions. Let’s connect and explore how I can support you.

  • Finding the right therapist is the first vital step in your journey. I offer a free phone or video consultation to ensure we’re a good fit and to discuss your needs.

    In our initial sessions, we’ll:

    • Explore the challenges that brought you to therapy

    • Define meaningful goals tailored to your personal growth

    • Begin working toward solutions that foster resilience and empowerment

Therapy is a process of self-discovery—at times, it may feel challenging as you step outside your comfort zone and adopt new ways of thinking and coping. However, those who are open to self-exploration and change often experience the most significant breakthroughs.

  • The 20-minute consultation call is an opportunity for you to:

    • Share your current concerns and ask any questions

    • Learn about my therapeutic approach and the methods I use

    • Get a feel for my style and determine if we’re a good match

By the end of the call, you should have a clear sense of whether you'd like to move forward. If I believe another therapist may better suit your needs, I will provide an appropriate referral to ensure you receive the best care.

  • Therapy timelines vary based on individual goals, personal engagement, and life circumstances. Research suggests that many clients see meaningful progress in 12-15 sessions, though some choose to continue for deeper self-exploration and long-term growth. My goal is to help you achieve your desired outcomes efficiently and effectively while ensuring therapy remains valuable for you.

  • A formal diagnosis is only provided upon request for insurance reimbursement purposes. If a diagnosis is part of your treatment plan, we will discuss it together to ensure it aligns with your needs and goals. You always have the right to decline a diagnosis if it is not relevant to your therapy experience.

  • Most therapy sessions last 45-50 minutes, though shorter (30 minutes) or extended (90 minutes) sessions can be arranged based on your specific needs.

  • Weekly sessions are recommended, especially in the initial months, to establish a strong therapeutic foundation and ensure steady progress. As therapy evolves, we’ll assess the ideal frequency based on your goals, needs, and personal schedule.

  • The investment for individual therapy sessions is $185. Under the Federal No Surprises Act of 2022, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate, ensuring transparency in therapy costs. This investment in your mental well-being and personal growth supports lasting change, empowerment, and improved quality of life.

  • I am an out-of-network provider, which means you pay Clarity Within Therapy directly. Many plans offer out-of-network reimbursement for therapy.

Out-of-network reimbursement (if you plan to submit to insurance):
Upon request, I provide a monthly superbill (billing statement) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your plan.

Private pay (if you are not using insurance):
If you are paying out of pocket and not submitting claims to insurance, you can request a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges.

I recommend calling your insurance company and asking:

    • Do I have outpatient mental health benefits?

    • Do I have out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy?

    • What is my out-of-network deductible, and has it been met?

    • What is my reimbursement after the deductible (percentage or allowed amount)?

    • Is there a limit on the number of sessions per year?

    • Do I need pre-authorization?

    • Is telehealth covered the same way as in-office sessions?

    • How do I submit out-of-network claims, and how long do reimbursements typically take?

If you want, I can share the CPT codes I use and what to ask so your call is straightforward.

Note: I do not participate with Medicare or Medicaid.

If you have any questions about payment, insurance, or reimbursement, I’m happy to provide guidance.
